Plant Mechanic

Position Description

Kinder Morgan CO2 Company is currently seeking a Plant Mechanic for the Tall Cotton Field Facilities in Seminole, TX. The successful candidate will serve a vital role in maintaining the safe and efficient operation of all aspects of the central battery rotating equipment. The Tall Cotton Field facilities include CO2 compression, oil and water separation, water injection and oil sales. Position level commensurate with experience and skill sets.
Duties include:
Provide support to operations to ensure plant downtime is minimized.
Recognize and promote ideas that provide a safer, more efficient and cost effective operation, make sure that operating cost is consistent with budgetary constraints.
Support and work with outside groups such as surveillance engineering, project engineering, and operations excellence team on safety and optimization initiatives.
Tasks are performed indoors and outdoors, in daylight and darkness, and in all weather conditions.
Applicant may be required to stand, walk, sit, ascend/descend stairs and ladders, use hand tools, reach with hands and arms.
Applicant MUST be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to or greater than 50 pounds.
Plant vessels and piping systems contain H2S and hydrocarbon gases which are flammable and may be explosive under certain circumstances.
This position requires working on holidays when a holiday falls on a scheduled on-call weekend.
Applicant must be available 24-hours a day Monday - Friday and must be available for call on weekends.
Applicant must be willing to provide contact information where he / she can be reached during off hours during night or day.

Position Requirements

Job Responsibilities:

  • Recognize and promote ideas that promote safe, reliable, and cost effective operation of facility equipment. Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns in a timely manner by making these issues TOP PRIORITY in the daily work schedule.

  • Provide support to facility Operations Group to minimize downtime of plant facilities and equipment.

  • Work with other TEAM Members to ensure work orders are completed in an efficient and timely manner.

  • Ability to interact with contract personnel.

  • Promote Kinder Morgan s EHS and Safety philosophy and culture.

  • Operate Kinder Morgan vehicle during daily work activities.

Job Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent Requirements.

  • Previous experience or training on Reciprocating Compressors, operation and maintenance would be a plus.

Specific experience, skills, knowledge, certifications, licenses, competences:

  • Solid Safety and environmental practices.

  • Self-starter and high drive for results.

  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Strong desire to learn more about job task and provide training and guidance to other mechanics on the job.

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Must maintain a valid driver s license and a driving record satisfactory to company insurers.

  • Must be able to work with a TEAM, take direction from supervisors, keep required work schedules, focus on attention to detail, and follow work rules.

Working conditions:

  • Requires physical work involving walking, standing, and exerting up to 50 pounds of force.

  • Tasks are performed in all-weather conditions, in daylight and darkness.

  • The noise level in working environment is usually loud (above 85 Decibels).

  • Exposure to process equipment including compressors, pumps, fans, and piping systems containing H2S and HCL gases which are flammable and may be explosive under certain circumstances.

  • Must be available to work the night shift, callouts, overtime, weekends, and holidays. Must be willing to supply supervisor with phone numbers where you can be reached at any time during off hours. Must be able to respond within 30 minutes when on call.

Preferred Experience, Skills and Knowledge:

  • Experience in reciprocating compression.

  • Experience in screw compression.

  • Experience in maintaining reciprocating compression including theory of operation, compressor purpose, and major components.

  • Experience in water injection pumps.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
